Daedalus Design and Production - Brooklyn, New York

During the fall of 2019 into spring of 2020, I was a carpenter and occasional scenic artist in Brooklyn, NYC. Here, I fabricated scenery for on/off Broadway, tours and clients such as Calvin Klein, NYC of Science, and Nordstrom. In the shop, we fabricated scenery utilizing a variety of materials such as: wood, aluminum, steel, foam, plastics, vinyl and fabric.

Expressing my interest in scenic art, I would occasionally assist the scenic artists with projects. The most recent scenic projects I worked on were for the Frozen tour and Gnit (at Theatre For A New Audience, NYC). For Frozen, I assisted in distressing furniture and for Gnit, I carved 2 large hills made of polystyrene foam, burlap and layers of moss.

The Santa Fe Opera – Santa Fe, New Mexico

During the 2019 season I was on Stage Crew. Here at Santa Fe, Stage Crew was responsible for daily changeovers for a total of five shows in repertory, running shows and on top of those shows, participating in Apprentice Scenes; two sets of shows in August put together entirely by the apprentices at Santa Fe. Some specific duties I had for changeover were: setting up the hydraulic system and rigs for Pearl Fishers and leading a basement crew for La Boheme.

I was also on show run crew for 4/5 shows, including: La Boheme, Jenufa, Thirteenth Child and Pearl Fishers. Stage Crew was in full costume for La Boheme due to the constant complex scene changes in full lighting. My duties in Pearl Fishers were to run the hydraulics/automation for the big on stage frame tilt, setting scenery throughout the show and the intermission shift, which consisted of the entire stage crew changing the scenery including walls, decks and décor. During Apprentice Scenes, I worked in the scene shop as a carpenter and welder building small pieces of scenery for the second round of shows.

The Glimmerglass Festival – Cooperstown, New York

Similar to Santa Fe, I worked at Glimmerglass as a Stage Op in 2017 and the 2018 season. Here, we practiced fast-paced changeovers and ran shows for a total of 4 shows in repertory. As a run crew member, I was a fly person for Barber of Seville andSilent Night, and assisted the scenic and props run crew department with scene changes.

Freelancing in Connecticut

Since 2015, I worked as a freelance technician around CT for companies such as: Hartford Stage, Long Wharf, Yale Repertory Opera, TheaterWorks Hartford and Ballot Theater Company. For most of my time as a freelancer in CT, I worked many changeovers as a carpenter and electrician and occasionally ran shows as a fly person and scenery/props run crew.
